ABOUT

It all began in my childhood bedroom in my parents' house. I remember that pivotal moment when I watched a YouTube video featuring James Barkman on his journey in a VW Bus. Barely halfway through the video, I knew I had to make this a reality for me. Fast forward several years, and I've lived in three different states, crossed paths with incredible people, and witnessed breathtaking views that I only dreamt of seeing. Today, those dreams have become cherished memories, and my journey has only just begun.

My passion for capturing life's fleeting moments, those nanoseconds that will never be the same again, has opened my eyes and mind to a different view on life. This is especially true when photographing wildlife. Having the privilege to share one-on-one moments with wild creatures is an experience of unparalleled power. Behind my camera, nothing else matters. I become fully immersed in the present moment, losing myself in time. And it often brings me back to where I am supposed to be in life.

The life I've embarked on has been a journey, marked by its fair share of ups and downs, joys and sorrows. Every experience, whether positive or negative, has made me who I am today. It has led me to where I stand now. Throughout all of this, I've learned many life lessons and skills - from recognizing my strengths and weaknesses to mastering problem-solving and discovering true happiness. Most importantly, I've learned how to persevere when faced with adversity.

Many times, I've heard that I should give up, that my passion was just a hobby with no future. But those comments only fueled the fire within me. I've heard others say, "You're merely struggling to survive, Kevin. It's time to put the camera down and focus on something else." Yet, I still hold that camera in my hands daily, and I'll never put it down. Struggling and surviving are as much a part of life as anything else. I've weathered countless storms, and looking back, I am amazed at how I navigated through them all. No matter how difficult the journey, I’ll never quit.

In the grand scheme of things, we're all just here, living this mysterious existence called life. The true meaning of life remains a mystery without a definitive answer. What if life is simply to embrace it and relish the experience. Life has become a competition, a contest we've constructed. If we can acknowledge that this competition is made by us and, instead of competing with each other, learn to dance alongside it, we might discover what truly matters to us all. Just as I have.

I am Kevin Fuchs, the son of William and Susan Fuchs, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 2020, after years of just a thought, I moved out West, leaving my home behind. I am a photographer, videographer, and outdoorsman, and this is my "Journey Within."
